Triathlon of Montpellier

posted at 14h49

Hi everybody !

After a really bad week-end, cause of my bad selection test, i decided to train in a raw for one week at Montpellier with the Pôle France's athletes.

The objective is to train very hard during 3 weeks, to be ready for the first french Grand Prix in Dunkerque on May, 18th.

After a really hard training week (21h with a lot of hard running sessions, and swimming sessions), i chose to race the triathlon of Montpellier.

One thing really surprising was i had good feelings during the easy bike session one day before the race.

The race :

Very good start. I was swimming fast until the first buoy, in the Julien Coudert's feet, easily.

I went out the swim in 2nd place, just behind Julien.

My first transition was very bad (that's the first time this year ... i will need to change that for the first GP !!) and i left the transition aera still in 2nd place.

The bike was hard during the first 3k. At the 4th km, i speed up to pull Julien and being the first.

I was pushing and pushing until the 16th km, when Sebastien Berlier reached Julien and me at the head of the race.

Just after, a group of 15 guys (the drafting was not allowed) reached them .. no comment !

I arrived at the transition aera in 2nd position, just behind Berlier.
The run was pretty hard, cause of my legs which reminded all the track running sessions !!

I finished 7th ... not good, not bad

3h30 after, there was another race for the 25 firsts of the morning race. It was a super-sprint (300m - 10k - 2k)
Very fast and very funny.
After a very bad swimming (because of the water level of the basin where we swam), i prefered stay quiet in bike, to begin the running more easily.

The bike trip was 7 come/back between two circles. After the last u-turn, i was speeding-up to get a little advance before to reach the transition aera.
I left this in 4th place, 30" behind the 3 first (who were escaped since the beginning of the bike). Aurélien Lescure, reached me after 400m and i tried to stay with him, as long as possible. I managed to stay 10 meters behind him on the 1st km, and on the 2nd km i lost a little bit time, but i finished 5th .. better than the first race.

I'm happy to did this race, even if a lot of things must change. It was a good experience, especially after a very hard training week.

Now, next race in Mimizan on May 11th, with my US friend Barrett Brandon, who should arrive in France in few days.

see you

Pierre

ps : sorry for my mistakes ... i'm a beginner ;-))

Come back from Paris

posted at 19h22

Hi everybody,

Just a short update to inform you that I just come back from Paris, where I did few test in run and in bike.

I did a Maximal Aerobic Speed test to know what are my threshold, my Maximal Oxygen Volume when I run and when I ride.

I did also a strong/speed test, and it was very interesting for me !

My bike test was good. I got the 430 Watt level and I did 30 second at 460w, but it was too hard for my leg ...

My run test was a good information to me, after 6 weeks without training in this field (because of an injury at my left knee). I got the 19km/h level and I did 2 minutes at 20km/h. So it means, I have a Maximal Aeroby Speed at 19,6 km/h.

It's not a good result for an athlete who train every day, but for me and according to my situation, it's a good score !

Now I still have 6/7 weeks to train very hard in this field and be ready for the National Test in 19/20 April (to be in the U23 French Team for the world championship).

Wait and see ...

Hope your training is good

Pierre
